Magnetic Chore Charts by Tessa Buys
Epiphany Crafts Supplies:
Epiphany Crafts Round 25 Tool
Epiphany Crafts Round 25 Bubble Caps
Patterned Paper: American Crafts, Studio Calico
Glue: Diamond Glaze
Other: Neodymium magnets, cardstock, frame, metal sheet
The way our boys kept track of completed chores needed an overhaul. Inspired by this project found via Pinterest, I created my own set of magnetic chore charts.
Now my boys simply move the magnets from the “to-do” column to the “done” column when a chore is complete. To make the magnets, print out the chores and cut the words into strips. Glue the strips to patterned paper, then use the Round 25 tool and bubble caps to make the epoxy circles. Finish by adding a neo-magnet to the back (neodymium magnets, the really strong kind).
To make the chart, print your text and columns onto cardstock. Layer that page onto a thin metal sheet cut to size. I found these at the hardware store for about $1 a piece. Because I used strong magnets, I left the glass in place in my frame and the magnets still work.
Now my boys love finishing their chores so that they can move their magnets to the “done” side. The two oldest alternate blue and green each week, and because the chores are on magnets, the switch is super easy.
(idea inspired from A Lemon Squeezy Home on Pinterest)
