Mother’s Day Folio & Notebook by Designer Jennifer Priest

My mom has everything she needs and her Mother’s Day gift requests are always utilitarian in nature. Earlier this year I heard her say she wished she had a stash of greeting cards in her desk and I have an a-ha moment! I knew this folio would be a fun way for her to keep a stash of greeting cards in her desk at work but also, a nice way for her to keep notes on the enclosed notepad.

I created the cards from the scraps of paper leftover from creating the folio. The embellishments then followed, created with the Epiphany Crafts Pennant 25, Scallop 25, Round 25, and Heart 14 Shape Studios and Bubble Caps. The lightweight, custom embellishments are a practical way to decorate the book and create low-profile embellishments that don’t distract from the function of the folio.

I also created a simple notebook that can be kept in a purse or glove box using kraft paper and a couple of 3.5″x5″ pieces of chipboard. Pennant stickers on the cover compliment pennants created with the Epiphany Crafts Pennant 25 Shape Studio and Bubble Caps.

Folio Supplies:

Epiphany Crafts Supplies:
Epiphany Crafts Pennant 25, Scallop 25, Round 25, and Heart 14 Shape Studios and Bubble Caps

Other Supplies:
Paper, Diecuts – Authentique Paper
Ribbon – Stampin’ Up!
Stamps – Prima, Pink Paislee
Ink – Clearsnap, ColorBox
Twine – The Twinery

Mother’s Day Necklace Designer by Jennifer Priest

Mother’s Day is coming up in about 4 days and if you are like me, this is a difficult time to find gifts. My mom asks for the wackiest things, like “a clean house” or to “get the weeding around the yard done”. I understand, being a busy mom myself. And after 6-7 years of giving her gardening supplies as gifts, she has told me she has enough.

My mom does not love pink however, she is redoing her guest bath in pink with roses — very shabby, very “grandma”. Maybe she changed her fave color now that I am thinking about it, her hallway is pink, she wants pink towels in the bathroom. Hmm…………maybe she loves pink now?!

About 7 or 8 years ago she asked me to decorate her guest bath and I made all kinds of cute country things for her bathroom–she lives in a ranch style home on a ranch. This time, she is doing the deed herself but I plan to give her something to spruce up her bathroom.

I created a shabby, vintage style necklace using pieces from a Connie Crystal Mixed Media Ornate Sun Catcher in Pink Theme and an Epiphany Crafts Oval 25 Jewelry Setting (which is gorgeous, reminiscent of a cameo). This necklace can be worn or it can be displayed as a fun art piece in a shabby bathroom.  I plan to get a vase or mannequin to alter with dictionary paper for my mom to display the necklace on in her newly appointed guest “powder room”.

Supplies:

Epiphany Crafts Oval 25 Shape Studio with Bubble Caps
Epiphany Crafts Oval Jewelry Setting

Other Supplies:
Connie Crystal Mixed Media Ornate Sun Catcher in Pink Theme
Ribbon by May Arts
Jump Rings, Eye Pins, and Head Pins by The Bead Factory
Stamp by Prima
Ink by ColorBox
Paper by Echo Park Paper

Instructions:

1) To create the necklace, I cut the thread connecting all the beads to the crystal on the Sun Catcher. I used eye pins to make rosary style beads from some of the Sun Catcher beads, wrapping the long end of the pin under a loop I made to hold the bead in place, creating a wire wrapped bead. I then used some of the beads with eye pins, using the same wire wrapping technique, to make wire wrapped dangles.

2) I attached all of the pieces to an Epiphany Crafts Oval Jewelry Setting and added cabochon I made using a Prima crown stamp, Echo Park Paper, ColorBox ink, and the Epiphany Crafts Oval 25 Shape Studio with matching Bubble Caps. I attached a jump ring to the top of the Oval Jewelry Setting and ran two lengths of ribbon through the ring, about 24″ long. Then I tied the ribbon ends into a bow.

Mother’s Day Gifts from Epiphany Crafts

Here’s a hug for all the Mom’s who tirelessly give of themselves to their families, children, parents, friends, family and co-workers.

This week is dedicated to all of you…

We hope to offer ideas and inspiration to make something special for that someone special.

And thank you to everyone who posted a comment last week! Another special thanks to our friends at Pretty Little Studio for sponsoring our giveaway.

Today Designers Thienly Azim and Katarina Damm-Blomberg, while living miles away each came up with a similar idea. Creating beautiful pincushions. And executed so perfectly using our EC products. An idea to note…even if the receiver of this gift does not sew…it would make a beautiful jewelry holder. Rings can be set on the top pins and others inside the jar as well!
